Henry Knox Craig letter, 1853 Oct. 3.

Letter from Henry Knox Craig, chief of ordnance, to Secretary of War Jefferson Davis. Writing from Washington, D.C., Craig proposes to appoint Captain R.A. Wainwright to the command of the Baton Rouge Arsenal, a post formerly held by a Captain Morgan, who evidently died during a yellow fever epidemic. On the reverse of the letter Davis writes in a brief note that he approves of Craig's plan.
