Culinary recipes for meats, curries, fish, pickled meats, mincemeat, preserves, puddings, cakes, vinegars, wines. Most are attributed to individuals, a large number to Mrs. Cliffton and to Mrs. Weltden; other surnames include Barbut, Bartholomew, Brady, Bridger, Davis, Dorset, Hammond, Hockley, Hughes, Hutton, Peche, Phillips, Sanders, Smallpiece, Sparkes, Wilson, Waller, Weller, Wheeler; other names are Mrs. George Mackenzie, Lady Rawlinson, and Mary Ann Rawson. A few of the recipes are crossed out or have the comment "not good" written on them in a contemporary hand. There is a partial table of contents inside front cover. A section of medicinal recipes for consumption, chilblains, deafness, cancer, cough, worms, rheumatism in the head, and for fumigating sick rooms is written from the reverse of the book. Some are attributed to Doctors Budd, Mapleton, Morris, Willis, and to Dr. Carmichael Smyth. A few housekeeping recipes include some for blacking and for dyes.
