Letters, 1901.

The collection contains two letters. The first, April 11 1901, was written by John McGregor to the editor of the Indianapolis Press, presenting him with a desk and stand. The desk was used by legislators in the old State House, and the ink stand was made from a piece of stone taken from the Central Avenue bridge over Fall Creek. The second letter, April 13 1901, was written to John Hampden Holliday, the founder of the Indianapolis News, in reply to a letter asking for verification of the history of one of the old desks from the State House.
