Oscar Anderson started working at Ford Motor Company in 1926 as captain of the company's newly constructed ore carrier, M/S Henry Ford II. Within a year, he was named Marine Superintendent responsible for the daily operations of the growing Ford fleet of ore boats, barges, and tugs.
