Philip Pavia, a sculptor, New York, N.Y. Born 1912. Died 2005. Pavia attended the Beaux Arts School, 1930, the Art Students League, 1931-1933, and traveled and studied in Europe from 1931-1937. In 1948 he founded The Club, a group devoted to discussion of modern art. Pavia was the group's driving force, organizing and leading Wednesday and Friday night lectures and members-only panel conversations and other events at the 39 E. 8th St. location.
