The Kathleen Riley Notebooks, 1939, consist of four notebooks of academic notes and drawings from Dr. Riley's medical education. These notebooks are annotated with her drawings and notes. Subjects include pathology, physiology, anatomy and pharmacy. The pharmacy book is an annotated copy of Practical pharmacology by George B. Roth, Washington, D.C., 1929.

Kathleen Amelia Riley was born in Florence, South Carolina, on June 27, 1915. After graduating from Furman University, Riley received her medical degree from the Medical College of the State of South Carolina in 1941. She practiced dermatology in Charleston for more than 30 years, retiring in 1981. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Riley was a professor of Dermatology and the former acting chair of the Department of Dermatology at MUSC.
