Collection consists of photocopies of correspondence from Henry A. Wallace to key officers with Pioneer Hi-Bred International: Nelson Urban, Raymond Baker, Fred Lehmann, and Jay Newlin. Letters deal with corn and chicken genetics; selling, in-breeding, crosses, yields, and prices of corn; expansion; weather, farm legislation; maintenance of seed corn surplus; possibilities of growing seed corn in Argentina; and raising broilers.

Raymond F. Baker (1906-1999 ) graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy in 1935. Seven years earlier, he had joined Pioneer Hi-Bred Corn Company. He headed the company's corn research department for more than 40 years until retirement in 1971. In 1965, he was named Fellow in the American Society of Agronomy and also in the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
