Plan of the city of Lexington, 1835.

This is a hand-drawn map of the city of Lexington, Kentucky in 1835. The map shows streets, elevations, and several points of interest including the city library, jail, bank of the United States, orphan and lunatic asylums, churches, post office, and buildings on the campus of Transylvania University. The map was surveyed and drawn by John Lutz, a professor at Transylvania University, who also served as acting president. Lutz was later known as John Mansfield. The map is thought to be one of the oldest maps of Lexington still in existence.
