Genealogy, 1823-1837.

This volume contains genealogical material for the Lynde and Wheeler families of Worcester, Mass. The Lynde family genealogy was compiled, in 1823, by Charles Wheeler (1793-1827), the son of Theophilus Wheeler (1764-1840) and Elizabeth (Lynde) Wheeler (1756-1833). He writes: "Herein I make a Record of my Mothers ancestors as far as I am able. The pedigree of the family having either been lost, imperfectly kept, or not at present to be found." This is followed by three pages of Lynde family genealogical material beginning with Thomas Lynde (1594-1671), of England. There is also a memorandum regarding his great-grandmother Elizabeth Lemmon ( - ). Penciled corrections and additions were made in a different hand. This genealogy includes notes on Dorothy Lynde (1746-1837), who married Dr. Elijah Dix ( -1809), the grandparents of Dorothea Lynde Dix (1802-1887). The Wheeler genealogy, written in a different hand, begins with Rev. Joseph Wheeler (1735-1793) and traces the family of his son, Theophilus (see above). Again, there are penciled corrections and additions.
