This collection of papers consists mostly of chronologically arranged correspondence, church minutes, and documents concerning Lombard's connection with various Congregational pastorates in Maine and Massachusetts. There are also notes, correspondence, and an octavo volume on Lombard family genealogy [octavo volume #1]. The collection also includes a volume of poems written by several friends [octavo volume #2].

Herbert Edwin Lombard (1863-1940), son of Henry Faulkner and Nellie Callahan Lombard, was born in Sutton, Mass., and graduated from the Bangor Theological Seminary in 1896. He was a pastor of several Congregational churches in Massachusetts and was a member of the Masons. In 1913, he was elected a member of the American Antiquarian Society, because of his interested in bibliographical research, bookplate collection, and American literature. He died in Worcester, Mass.
