ALS, 1807 July 4 : Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to Gouverneur Morris.

On June 25, 1807, Jonathan Dayton was indicted for high treason and misdemeanor by the grand jury in Richmond, Virginia, which was considering charges against Aaron Burr and his accomplices. Dayton here relates the circumstances surrounding the indictment to his old friend and mentor, Gouverneur Morris.
