The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam. Lewis C. Jesseph and a fellow attorney, John Merritt, had decided to take the Great Northern Passenger train from Spokane, WA because they were going to argue a case before the Washington State Supreme Court in Olympia, WA. They left Spokane, WA about 7:30 P.M. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 1910.
