Papers, 1908-1984 (bulk 1933-1984)

Autobiographical information can be found in the correspondence (1943-1971) between Jackson and seven other poet friends across the United States. Other correspondence is with editors of poetry publications (1939-1984), poetry societies, and with the Nieves at the Culion Sanitorium, the Philippines (1965-1983), which describes life in a leprosarium. Manuscripts reflect Jackson's poetry in final form, but collection includes few draft copies of her poetry. Retained are 78 small poetry publications (1939-1984) which published Jackson's work, in addition to newspaper poetry columns. Included in a later addition to the collection are taped interviews with Jackson and her husband, and literary reviews by Jackson.
