An answer to an unknown writer who asks for Parkman's opinion of the creation of an American Westminster Abbey. He writes " ... [it] would be a good thing if we could be sure that the right men would be put into it. But under the conditions of our society and the rage for publicity which prevails so largely, it is certain that intrigue and wire-pulling would have a large influence in securing a posthumous berth there and the tenants of our Westminster would not always be those of whom we would have most reason to be proud."
