Urban Rumble correspondence, 1859, 1861-1862.

The Urban Rumble correspondence consists of ca. twenty-three letters of which twelve were written by Urban Rumble to his parents during his time as a Confederate soldier and discuss camp life in Virginia, sights and events he had witnessed, and Chimborazo Hospital. Other letters included are Rumble to John W. Mays (1), J.H. Langley (2), W.D. Holland (3), and John Thomas McCurry (1) to Rumble, John W. Mays to Rumble's father (1), John Thomas McCurry to "friend" (1), R.W. Pelletier and John Williams to Rumble's mother (2).

Urban Rumble (1843-1862), Confederate soldier, was born in Brent, Monroe County, Georgia, and died at Chimborazo Hospital, Richmond, Virginia. Rumble was the son of Henry (1815-1889) and Frances Rebecca Cox Rumble (1821-1911). He enlisted in Company A of the 14th Georgia Infantry Regiment (1861) and spent his military time stationed in Virginia. He died of pneumonia and measles and was buried in the Smith Cemetery at Brent. From the description of Urban Rumbl...
