Albert Merritt Ewert was born in Rawlins, Wyoming Territory, in 1886. His parents were Rev. A.L.T. Ewert and Laura Miller Ewert. He had two brothers, Arthur and Earl, and three sisters, Anna, Ethel and Carol. Albert attended Greer College and Northwestern University. Like his father before him, Albert became a Methodist pastor.
