A diary and accompanying photographs by civil engineer Frank P. Erichsen detailing his experiences working on soil erosion control programs with the Civilian Conservation Corps and the Civil Works Administration in Buffalo County, Wis., 1933-1934. Also included is information and photographs documenting the construction of the breakwater in the Milwaukee harbor, 1929, and photographs documenting erosion control projects undertaken as part of the Coon Valley Demonstration Project, 1935-1939.

The Civil Works Administration was established by EO 6420-B, November 9, 1933, under authority of the National Industrial Recovery Act (48 Stat. 200), June 16, 1933, to provide relief work for unemployed persons through public work projects. Functioned simultaneously, and to some extent with the same personnel, with Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA).
