The pirates of Penzance [collection] : or, the slave of duty : an entirely original comic opera in two acts / written by W.S. Gilbert ; composed by Arthur Sullivan. 1880.

Arranged in three groups: I. Scores (1). II. Vocal scores (64). III. Promptbooks (1). The score is manuscript, is 152 pages, labelled "Director's score" on cover, and has "conductor's score" handwritten on the title page. It bears the stamp of H.C. Husted and contains instrumental and dialogue cues. The vocal scores were published by Stoddard of London (c1880) and by Tams-Witmark (pl. no. 118-141) of New York. The two Stoddard editions are arranged as stage manager's guides, with bound-in performance annotations. One copy lists the cast on a separate sheet interleaved in the preliminary pages. Two of the Tams-Witmark editions are labelled "Director" score," one of which lists the cast in the preliminaries. The promptbook is in English, in manuscript, in a lined ledger and contains annotations throughout.
