Walcott-Pickman family papers, 1776-1887.

Pickman family papers (1806-56) mainly relating to Benjamin T. Pickman, Boston merchant and commander of the New England Guards (1812-19), include correspondence, drafts of addresses, notes, receipts, and commissions and papers relating to activities of the New England Guards. Correspondents include John Quincy Adams, Robert W. Barnwell, John Brooks, Edward Everett, Levi Lincoln, Horace Mann, and Josiah Quincy. Papers (1814-51) of Samuel Baker Walcott, lawyer of Hopkinton, Mass., and associate in the law office of Daniel Webster, include correspondence from Charles Folsom, Marcus Morton, John Pickering, and Daniel Webster on legal, legislative, and family matters. Papers of Charles Folsom Walcott, Boston lawyer and Civil War soldier, describe his military activities in the Virginia campaigns (1862-65), and include correspondence and documents relating to his legal work (1855-87).
