ALS, 1894 August 8 : "The Players," [New York, New York], to Olivia S. Clemens.

Clemens writes to Susy that he has visited the world famous palmist Cheiro (Louis Hamon) who has just read his palm. He reports this visit in detail, touching on such subjects as his own tendency quick decisions, his lack of diplomacy, his undemonstrative nature, his future business prospects, the way Clemens would die (not by his own hand), etc. Twain's handprint appears in Cheiro's "Language of the Hand," (1895), p. 67.
