Papers of Charles Pelham Curtis Jr., Boston lawyer and writer. The major part of the collection consists of diaries of Alice Daland Chandler and her daughter Helen Chandler Winlock, each for various years between 1883 and 1932. Other small volumes include a diary of a trip to Europe, 1874, and French and British passports of John Cordner. One scrapbook contains clippings relating to yacht races in 1913 and 1914, in which C.P. Curtis Sr. ran his yacht Ellen; another contains clippings about Glenwood Springs, Colo., where the elder Curtis lived for a time. An oversize scrapbook contains clippings concerning the 1897 Boston mayoral election. (Con't) Other items include letters from prominent Bostonians, including Felix Frankfurter, supporting C.P. Curtis Jr.'s campaign for election to the Massachusetts Constitutional Convention of 1917-19; notes for a lecture on Benedict Arnold, 1857; and a 1952 letter from Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black thanking C.P. Curtis Jr. for sending him two articles.
