[Ferns of the West] : scrapbook, 1880 / [by John Muir]. 1880.

Scrapbook, assembled and labeled by John Muir, containing 30 mounted specimens of ferns collected throughout California, Arizona, Oregon, and Washington. Muir made the scrapbook for Mary Jane Talley (later Mrs. Mary Jane Perdue) of Julian, Calif., labeling each specimen with its name and the date and location of collection. Included is a clipping from the front page of the San Diego Union, dated Aug. 6, 1939, about Mrs. Perdue's daughter's gift of the scrapbook to the San Diego Historical Society's Junipero Serra Museum.
