William Godwin (3 March 1756 – 7 April 1836) was an English journalist, political philosopher and novelist. He is considered one of the first exponents of utilitarianism and the first modern proponent of anarchism. Charles Lamb was born to John and Elizabeth (Field) Lamb in London on February 10, 1775. Two of his siblings survived to adulthood, John (1763-1821) and Mary Ann (1764-1847).
