Persichetti reminisces about Stokowski's influence on him when he was growing up as a musical child in Philadelphia and going to Philadelphia Orchestra concerts. He gives his opinion of Stokowski's strengths as a conductor. He speaks of Olga Samaroff and his piano studies with her. He mentions Adolph Vogel, Fritz Reiner, and Russell King Miller.
