Manning, Bishop of New York concerning Isadora Duncan's dance performance at the Church and other controversial issues; references to plans to construct towers to the Church designed by Frank Lloyd Wright; and correspondence with literary figures such as Robert Milton and Edwin Markham. Also, material pertaining to symposia held at St. Mark's Church focusing on poetry, Edwin Markham, and spiritualism; and texts of his articles and speeches concerning his views on a humanistic approach to religion. In addition, copies of books he wrote about religion.

William Norman Guthrie, 1868-1944, an Episcopalian clergyman, was born in Dundee, Scotland, on March 4, 1868. He was the son of William Eugene Guthrie and Frances Sylva d'Arusmont.
