Subjects include appointments and activities of representatives and special attacheĢs including Leonard E. Ackerman and Roswell D. McClelland, cooperation with other governments and organizations, education and propaganda measures, requests for aid for specific refugees, location of and conditions in German concentration camps, financial affairs of the Board, admission of refugees into the United States, and specific relief measures such as evacuation, food deliveries, passport assistance, temporary havens, and resettlements. Also includes an extensive name and subject index to the records prepared by the Foreign Funds Control and a three-volume history of the Board prepared by its staff.

William O'Dwyer (1890-1964), a native of Bohola, County Mayo in Ireland, emigrated to New York City in 1910. Prior to becoming Mayor in 1946, he served in the United States Army and later worked as a policeman, lawyer, district attorney. He was re-elected in November 1949 and served until August 1950, when he accepted the position of U.S. Ambassador to Mexico....
