Emmons' manuscript, "The Tlingit," on numerous aspects of the daily life of the Tlingit Indians is based upon collecting trips he made during the 1870s to 1890s. It includes drawings and photographs illustrating arts and crafts, hunting, and other aspects of Tlingit life. Emmons describes Tlingit villages and houses, domestic life, life cycle, arts and industries, fishing and hunting, war and peace, shamans, witchcraft, legends, and gambling.
