Societies collection, 1785-1932.

Collection consists of a variety of material concerned with specialized societies or organizations in New York City. Included are civic minded and benevolent societies, special interest organizations, trade societies and those concerned with schools, religious affairs, and hobbies. Records encompass membership certificates and a membership book, invitations, tickets and programs to special events, broadside letters, and some minutes and other records. Societies are frequently represented by memorabilia such as medals, pins, and badges.
