Police Department collection, 1801-1909.

Collection concerns several New York City police precincts and districts in New York City and patrolmen. Included is a ledger belonging to High Constable Jacob Hays listing names of prisoners in the New York State Prison, and records of arrests and convictions listing age, crime, sentence, date of sentence, county where convicted, and date discharged, 1779-1820. Also Hays' ledger listing personal arrests, 1801-1850. In addition, composite photographs of two police precincts, a certificate of appointment, a police deposition, and information about police districts.
