Papers reflect Bliss' research interest in crabs and include her Ph. D. dissertation entitled "Endocrine Control of Metabolism in the Decapod Crustacian, Gecarcinus lateralis," 1952. Large portion of collection consists of raw data she used in her dissertation, and post-doctoral and early museum work on crabs, including graphs and tables, notes of her observations of laboratory experiments, card files, sketch books of crabs used for her thesis, data sheets, and two boxes of microscope slides. Collection also contains photographic slides Bliss took in laboratory experiments with crabs, 1962-1968. Slides are identified and scientific data is provided. Correspondence with colleagues including John H. Welsh, Berta Scharrer and C.M. Breder, Jr. prior to her Museum appointment, 1950s. Other correspondence with colleagues, students, and others regarding research, publications, specimens, symposia, and other topics dealt with in her capacity as curator, 1960-1979. Major correspondents include Noëlle Démeusy, Warren Flint, and Warren Gross. Other material from professional organizations with which she was affiliated such as the Bermuda Biological Station for Research.
