Many speeches were delivered at UNCF sponsored special events including a series of symposia coordinated by UNCF's Greater New York Women's Division in the 1950s. Writings of many prominent business leaders who supported UNCF and publicly endorsed its efforts are included in this series. Other leaders represented include John F. Kennedy, Benjamin Mays, Ralph McGill, Dr. Frederick D. Patterson, and John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Speeches document reasons American businesses supported UNCF and the changing nature of appeals UNCF used to raise money.
