These records consist mainly of the papers of Lee S. Crandall, who upon retirement in 1952 was engaged by the New York Zoological Society to write a major treatise on THE MANAGEMENT OF WILD MAMMALS IN CAPTIVITY. Included are correspondence with colleagues from the American Association of Zoological Parks and Aquariums, American Institute of Park Executives, American Society of Mammalogists, International Union of Directors of Zoological Gardens, and zoological societies in the United States and abroad; a reference file of clippings, correspondence, and citations on mammals; and drafts, manuscripts, and reviews.
