Founder of the magazine, "Better Homes and Gardens," (1924), Meredith was very active in the publishing world. Always interested in politics he was appointed Secretary of Agriculture in 1920. During his political career Meredith was an ardent supporter and champion of farm relief, tax and tariff reform, prohibition, military preparedness, and arid land development.
