Papers of Carlisle D. Cooke, a railroad building contractor pertaining to the construction of the Milwaukee and Mississippi Railroad. Half of the collection is incoming correspondence concerning financial details, land negotiations, prospective routes and depots, and supplies and equipment. Prominent correspondents include J. H. Conkey, John Chamberlain, and Selah Chamberlain. Also included are construction reports, ledger abstracts, contracts, bills, and an unidentified bridge plan and profile.
