The Public Welfare Dept. was established on December 7, 1935, as a division of the Industrial Commission (WIHV85-A2180), superseding the Wisconsin Emergency Relief Administration (see WIHV90-A384). In April 1934 the Wisconsin Emergency Relief Administration was established as a department of the Industrial Commission of Wisconsin (see WIHV85-A2180).
