A letter, dated Williamsburg, from Virginia Governor Fauquier to Colonel William Byrd, in which Fauquier orders Byrd, in accordance with the wishes of General Jeffrey Amhurst, to proceed with his militia regiment westward to Cherokee County and cooperate with the troops of Colonel Grant in putting down hostile Indians there.
