Nicholas Nickleby : AMs portion and related material, [1838-189-?].

Several chapters of the manuscript [1838-1839], accompanied by clippings and pages of printed books relating to it and other Dickens works. Ninety-six leaves of manuscript, comprising chapters 10 (complete: foliated 75-106, 104-106 misbound at end of volume), 16 (fragment; 45-70); 17 (lacking one leaf; 1-2, 4-19), and 20 (complete; 67-94). With many erasures and holograph revisions, abortive beginnings of text on verso of some leaves, and occasional printer's markings. Also present are: printed leaves from an unidentified edition corresponding to the first page of each chapter of the manuscript (including chapter 15, once part of this volume); two clippings about Dickens manuscripts; and an engraved portrait of Dickens.
