Observations on the Office of Naval Research and International Science, 1945-1960: Oral History Interview with Sarah Lee Sharp.

The accession consists of a photocopy of the transcript of a series of oral history interviews conducted by the University of California, Berkeley Regional Oral History Office interviewer Sarah Lee Sharp with oceanographer Roger Randall Dougan Revelle (1909- ). The interviews were conducted in November 1984 and were sponsored by the U.S. Office of Naval Research. The interviews concentrate on Revelle's participation in the creation of the Office of Naval Research and his views about ONR sponsored basic research during the period 1945-1960. The interviews also discuss Revelle's observations of post-war oceanographic research, and his activities in international sciences. The Interviews specifically discuss UNESCO, the International Oceanographic Commission, the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research, and other international scientific organizations. 112 p.
