The reminiscences of John Brophy, 1955, [microform]

A transcript of John Brophy's oral history interviews. Brophy discusses his family background and childhood, British and American nineteenth century miner's organizations and mining life, activities with labor unions and mining organizations, and union relations and labor difficulties from 1899-1955. Brophy also comments on the relation of communism and socialism to labor, the New Deal and the future of labor, and gives his impression of many labor and union leaders. Forms part of Columbia University Oral History Collection (Part One).
