A group of letters written by Jesse A. Park from Prescott, Arizona Territory. He arrived there in 1870 at approximately 20 years of age and spent the next 40 years there. The letters are to friends and family back in Higginsport, Ohio. They reveal the growth of Prescott, as well as Arizona Territory. He mentions John Charles Fremont, who was territorial governor of Arizona from 1878-1883.

John Charles Frémont (January 21, 1813 – July 13, 1890) was an American explorer, military officer, and politician. He was a US Senator from California, and in 1856 was the first Republican nominee for President of the United States. A native of Georgia, Frémont acquired male protectors after his father's death, and became proficient in mathematics, science, and surveying.
