Lewis family letters, 1827-1832.

Letters to Frances Parke Lewis Butler from her mother Nelly Custis Lewis and brother Lorenzo Lewis. A letter, 1827 June, is too fragile and fragmented to read and has been scheduled for repair. In a letter, 1832 May 20, Nelly Custis Lewis worries about the effect of the Louisia climate, describes the natural history collection of "Lolen" and his treatment for a [broken?] ankle, sends news of activities and health of family and friends, asks for some pressed wildflowers as souvenirs, comments on a new preacher and an ordination at which Bishop Meade was present, and closes with regards from all including servants. In a letter April 17, n.y., Lorenzo sends advice on child rearing, discusses how hard her husband is working for General Gaines and comments on the latest fashions.
