Collection contains photographs depicting formal portraits of individuals and groups; urban and rural scenes; structures; animals and plants and people engaged in outdoor recreation. Additionally, there are photographs of the funeral procession of Warren G. Harding in Marion, Ohio and photographs of World War I era soldiers, possibly members of the 4th Infantry, Ohio National Guard in which Lauffer served. The bulk of the photographs are unidentified. Albums include photographs of Governor Lausche and others inspecting a coal mine; souvenir postcard albums and photographs of the dedication of the Morrow County Victory Shaft . Slides found in the collection also depict structures, plants, animals and outdoor scenes. Additionally, there are slides of an Ohio State University football game in October 1960. Safety and nitrate film negatives illustrate people, buildings, construction and industry, animals and plants and sports. There are also nitrate film negatives of Lima College. Glass plate negatives depict members of the Lauffer Family. There are also glass plates of unidentified people, Lima College and the Morrow County Victory Shaft. Also found in the collection is one audio recording of WTVN broadcast and personal memorabilia of Walter M. Lauffer related to his career and civic activities. 44 reels of moving image film, mostly about nature conservation, game management and wildlife, are found in the collection. Many of the films were produced by the Ohio Division of Natural Resources, Division of Conservation and some credit Walter Lauffer as the photographer. There are also Lauffer family home movies documenting family vacations.
