George Bradley McFarland family papers, circa 1862-1964 (bulk 1880-1951).

Contains correspondence, notebooks, scrapbooks, writings, photographs, and books relating to missionaries in Siam (now Thailand) and Cambodia. Photographs include pictures of life in Thailand and Cambodia, including Angkor Wat; of the royal family, including the coronations of King Vajiravudh and King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the funeral of King Chulalongkorn; and of missions in Thailand. Also includes the American Civil War diary of James G. Blount. Diary of Corporal James Gooding Blount of the 100th Illinois Infantry, Company F, for August 25-December 2, 1862. Describes travel from Joliet, Illinois, through Louisville, Kentucky, and to near Nashville, Tennessee. James G. Blount died on December 12, 1862, in Nashville.

Bhumibol Adulyadej (b. 1927) King of Thailand, was crowned in 1946. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and educated in the United States and Switzerland, he learned to play a number of reed instruments including the clarinet and soprano saxophone.
