Bell, Rosamund Purdy, 1920-; Personnel officer, teacher and librarian. Mount Holyoke College graduate, 1942. Papers contain correspondence, programs, a film, a marriage announcement, and photographs. Most materials consist of correspondence and newspaper clippings concerning a comment that she made at a conference about students dating soldiers during World War II that was widely misquoted in newspaper articles, generating a controversy. Also includes programs and an 8mm film documenting the Class of 1942 Junior Show and other dramatic productions at Mount Holyoke College and photographs taken during her student years.

Rosamund Theresa Purdy, homemaker, librarian and a graduate of Mount Holyoke College, was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on November 11, 1920 to Steward W. Purdy and Louise T. Bruchholz Purdy.
