Twenty-three holograph letters and two poems; fifteen to the poet Vivian Locke Ellis and eight to the poet Edward Myerstein. The letters contain lengthy commentaries on Ellis' poetry and reflections on Freeman's own work. Freeman also discusses his own work at length focussing on his plans to publish the poetical and prose works of Edward Thomas and Freeman's own memorial volume on Thomas.

Freeman has written several works of literary citicism including, The moderns (1916) Herman Melville (1926), and several introductions.
