Family correspondence, accounts, estate papers, and other legal papers of Thomas Coombe, Collector of the Port of Philadelaphia, and his children, Sarah Coombe Shields and Thomas Coombe, Jr. The bulk of the correspondence are letters of Coombe, Jr. from England. Coombe writes home about family affairs, religion, and politics, with frequent mention of Benjamin Franklin whom he visited. The letters written from 1778 to 1803 relate mostly to family matters.
