Ancient songs, and ballads : from the time of King Henry the Second to the Revolution : ms., 1790-[ca. 1803] / collected by Joseph Ritson.

Manuscript for his Ancient songs and ballads, published in 1829. It consists of inlaid leaves and portions of leaves of his Ancient songs (1790) and the fourth part of his English songs (1783), all heavily revised in manuscript; bound with numerous manuscripts of poems in Ritson's hand, and a few in the hand of Sir Walter Scott, who assisted with translations. With annotations throughout in the hand of Ritson's nephew Joseph Frank, who edited the 1829 publication.
