Lorenzo Lawrence papers, 1861-1960.

Reminiscences (1895, 41 p.) of Lawrence (To-wan-e-ta-ton), a Dakota Indian, with his detailed recollections of guiding captive whites to safety during the Dakota Conflict (1862). He also gives data on the establishment of the mission at Lac qui Parle (Minn.) in 1844, and his version of the events that led to the uprising.
