Letterbook, 1834-1840.

Consists of letters written by Imlay from 1834 to 1840. The majority pertain to his activities as the postmaster. He handled newspaper subscriptions for many local people and corresponded with other postmasters about misdirected mail. A few of the letters relate to his activites as an agent of the Silk Growers Journal. Imlay was involved in the silk worm and mulberry tree business as well as the first grower of mulberry trees in his area.

William Imlay was a postmaster in Allentown, N.J. From the description of Letterbook, 1834-1840. (Winterthur Library).
