The records are a small sample from the files of John Taylor Gause, a member of the Sales Dept. concerned with magazine sales and promotion. Correspondence, memoranda, and bulletins describe sales policies and procedures, sales statistics, and promotions and contests aimed both at readers and the boys and young men who sold magazines on street corners or home delivery routes. The records include a series of ads designed to inculcate thrift in young boys.
